ABOUT NSS

The college arranges the Central Govt. Programme named NSS realizing the importance of national integration. We implement various activities (at least 24 programmes each year) and seven days camp is conducted in the Adopted villages.

HISTORY OF NSS

"Unity and Discipline‟

The Government of India has been trying to conscious the students towards national service. In September, 1969, it is decided that the new scheme of NSS would be started with NCC as co-curricular activity. The grant has declared in fourth panchvarshik yojna. And after that in 1969 on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi NSS has started.

SYMBOL OF NSS :

The Symbol of NSS has been based on the giant Rath wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple situated in Orissa. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release. It signifies the movement in life across time and space, the symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change. The eight bars in the wheel represent the 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young bold that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.

OBJECTIVES

The Following objectives are for the NSS volunteers.
1.  To inculcate social values among the students.
2.  To develop attitude of the students for their civic responsibilities.
3.  To develop students attitude for positive concern for the society.
4.  To organize the programmes of a social burning issues like illiteracy, hygiene & health, women Empowerment, water conservation, pollution prohibition, Female Foeticide, Awarness of Aids etc.

SPECIAL CAMPAIGN PROGRAMME

The unit of NSS is organized special campaign programme at the adopted village. The following activities are conducted every year.
1.  Village and Slums Cleaning.
2.  Tree Plantation.
3.  Drainage Cleaning.
4.  Village and Slums Survey.
5.  Vanrai Bandhara.
6.  Women Counselling.

DIWALI CELEBRATION

Since last 3 years, NSS has celebrated Diwali at Civil hospital Miraj. On this occasion we distributed fruits and sweets to the patients with the help of volunteers.
